Mommy Look! Big Teddy Bear!

hmorris July 13th, 2010

No honey…that’s a big scary bear. He looks cute, but you don’t want to touch him.

In case you missed it: bear sitings are on the rise in our area and the latest was in Lawrence near Brystol-Myers Squibb.

Just the other day, I got nervous when 2 baby deer appeared in my cul-de-sac while I was outside with my daughter (we mostly just see bunnies and squirrels) so I don’t want to think about bears hanging out in our scarce grouping of trees.

Maybe in addition to the potty training books, I can find ones that talk about animal safety and the difference between real bears and teddy bears.

Don’t panic if you see a black bear. They are not carnivores and not grizzlies. Just keep your garbage secured and they will leave.
If you get nervous with two baby deer, perhaps you need to enroll in a course of nature’s animals which God so kindly provided to us so you can enjoy them. Black bears won’t attack you unless you corner them or they feel threatened. Relax!!!!

Anne-I hear they love their garbage! The deer didn’t really make me nervous..it was kind neat to see them in our neighborhood since I hadn’t seen any yet..especially not so out in the open. I just didn’t want my daughter to get the urge to run up to them. I took lots of pictures…they were fun to watch.
