Mrs G TV & Appliances-the Workout?

hmorris June 29th, 2010

Did you know that Debbie Schaeffer, CEO of Mrs G TV & Appliances, is also the star of her own workout video? It’s true!

Recently, Debbie teamed up with Robbinsville fitness expert Lindsay Vastola, founder of BodyProject Bootcamp and BeABoardroomBabe.com, to produce a video showing busy women/moms/people how you can fit fitness into your day by using kitchen and laundry appliances. That’s what I said: kitchen and laundry!

Debbie and Lindsay shot the video on location at Tapestry at Montgomery, a 55+ Sharbell development, and used one of the Electrolux homes. Lindsay brilliantly named the workout, “The Electrolux Fit in 5″ which included Arms of Stainless Steel, Stove Top Squats, Hot Oven Abs, Laundry Lunges, and a round of cardio intervals. Check it out for yourself!

Visit The Mrs G showroom on Rt. 1 South in Lawrenceville (on the northbound side next to Party City).  Check out Lindsay’s fitness program at BeABoardroomBabe.com or BodyProjectBootcamp.com

How good is your mattress?

I can think of many reasons to bring your business to Princeton, but one I didn’t even think about was the international recognition that the name Princeton has. But that’s exactly why Gerry Borreggine, the CEO of Therapedic International, moved the headquarters to the area. You tell someone in Europe that your business is based in Princeton, NJ, they’re more likely to know what you’re talking about (with the University as a reference point).

So Gerry is the 2nd mattress company CEO that I have spoken to in a few weeks and as a pregnant woman in my third trimester who is not having the best sleep right now, I’m CRAVING a new mattress.  And as far as top-of-the-line mattresses go, you’re getting quality at a value price with Therapedic.

Picture 1So let’s talk mattresses and Princeton with Gerry Borreggine:

Q: Of all of the mattresses available from Therapedic (Kathy Ireland Collection, Memory Touch, Backsense, etc), what is your favorite?

A: The “mattress man’s” mattress is PureTouch, made of latex rubber foam which is also a natural product derived from a rubber tree. Unlike memory foam, it doesn’t take long to respond to your body.  It’s the best mattress to sleep on if the person has any respiratory problems. It’s also anti-microbial and anti-viral.

Q: What do people need to realize about shopping for their mattress?

A: If you think about it, we spend A LOT of time in our beds. (editor’s note: If you do the math: 8 hours x 365 days (roughly) = 2,920 hours!) People should set their sites on what they’re looking for in a mattress, not a budget. Look at your body: do you need bigger mattress? Do you have more back problems?

Q: How does Therapedic compare with the competition?

A: We’re the value alternative to the top tier brands like Sealy Posturepedic, but our mattresses are also all hand-made.  We’re more of a boutique brand that’s more localized. Upwards of about 20% hotels in the area are supplied by the North Brunswick factory.

Q: So let’s talk Princeton.  When did you make the leap?

A: We’ve been here for 5 years. We were in Middlesex for 15 years, but I felt the physical office was not appropriate for the international company. I live in Cherry Hill and it was too far to drive everyday and Princeton the best location for the staff to be happy too. Princeton is an international address so it was a good geographical fit.

Q: Are you able to get around in town while you’re up here?

A: Sometimes when I work late, I stay overnight at The Westin and will enjoy a cocktail at the end of the day at a place where I can walk back to my room.  My favorite places are Ruth’s Chris and Tre Piani.

I think Therapedic should make lounge chairs for the bars in the Forrestal Village.  Would bring all new meaning to “wine down Wednesday”.

You can find Therapedic sold exclusively at Bed Bath & Beyond. In addition to mattresses, they sell pillows, mattress toppers and blankets.  Connect with them on Facebook and Twitter too.

5 to Know Friday: Fruity Yogurt, Amigo Taxi, Art All Night

hmorris June 4th, 2010

Have you been to Fruity Yogurt yet? It’s not just another fro-yo shop. You can get bubble tea, REAL fruit smoothies and something called shaved ice-kind of like a snow cone, but with unlimited toppings. Yum! It’s over by CVS on the north end of Nassau Street. With all this hot weather, it’s definitely worth a trip.

It’s hard to miss the Amigo Taxi car driving around town. Did you know it’s an eco-friendly taxi service (low emissions) and the best part-you don’t have to pay for pick-up service. You only pay for your trip.  It doesn’t take much to do your part to help the environment. Give Amigo Taxi a ring: 609-452-2121.
