Thanks a lot Bradley Koltz! Your January 10 Business Highlights column tipped me off the the new bakery near me in Montgomery, Dessert Boutique. They are right across from ShopRite, and open daily (check their facebook page for exact hours). So, I can blame you for the calories, right? But, in truth, I really do thank you because this gem of a spot has a fabulous selection of divine gourmet cupcakes, and just a few of them are pictured here.

Also pictured, if I’ve got it right, clockwise from there are: Tre Leches, Cannoli, Carrot, Toasted Almond, and Chocolate Peanut Butter. (The photo below with 2 cupcakes is chocolate w/caramel frosting and lavender honey.) There must’ve been over 20 kinds on display around midday on Sunday, plus numerous cookies, bars, cute baby quiches, and all sorts of other goodies. The pretty space has a nice couch and small patisserie bistro tables, so you can lounge around and enjoy your treats with coffee or tea (espresso, hot chocolate will come later on, I was told).
And of course they do special order cakes, wedding cakes (check out the one with cherry blossoms), cupcake towers (great for showers), and the like. Co-owners Amy DeSanto and Corina Dumitru-Fritz were formerly biochemists, and when you think about it, that’s a good background for a pastry chef/baker, who must undersand how ingredients interact and be precise.
They even have a cupcake club where you can get your card punched and earn free desserts (ask in store for how that works). Having this tempation right around the corner from me will be dangerous. But, hey, I aim to shop local so….
So now there are apparently FOUR new cupcakes places to try in this area. Besides Dessert Boutique, there’s the Cupcake Factory in Lambertville, Pudge’s in New Hope and Buki Bakes in Franklin Park. And I have yet to try any of them. Somebody needs to check them all out and report back!!
