Fun with Color

Filed under: Central NJ Art, Mosaic — Ilene Dube @ 6:25 pm

The JB Kline gallery at 25 Bridge St. in Lambertville is holding Leyla Spencer’s fourth exhibit under its roof.  The exhibit will run through  Nov. 29, with an opening reception Nov. 14,  6 to 8:30 p.m.

Mosaic is one of the oldest forms of art. “It is a painstaking process, where each piece must be sized properly for it’s purpose,” says the artist. “The fun part is choosing the colors and materials to be used. I tend to use stained glass and vitreous glass tile in my work, but I also like finding small oddities to put in some pieces. The challenge is working within the limits, as well as stretching them.”

Spencer’s mosaic work, both functional pieces as well as wall hangings, are  known throughout the region.  609.397.7026; www.leylaspencer.net
